Visit the new Made in Westmeath Craft Shop in Mullingar

Exciting new craft venture in Mullingar.  See the amazing array of craft business all designing and making in Westmeath.

Thirteen brave craft workers entered the world of retail when they opened their first shop venture on Mount Street in Mullingar in November.  This unique little project called Made in Westmeath is exactly that, born and nurtured in County Westmeath. All of the products you see in the shop were designed and hand crafted by busy craft workers in the county.  It represents the ultimate experience in buying local.

From jewellery, wood turning, knitwear, handbags, Christmas decorations, soap, art, furniture, childrens stories and jigsaws, bog oak and hats and scarves there is something for everyone.   In addition to that, the craft workers are working there every day so you will actually get to meet the makers.

They are delighted to meet with members of the public and hear what you think of the shop so if you are passing please just call in and say hello…

2011 was a special year for crafts as it marks the 40th anniversary of the Craft Council of Ireland and 2011 is the official Year of Craft.  The Made in Westmeath group was formed earlier this year and consists of over 25 craft workers across Westmeath. 13 of them are par-taking in the retail project.  The group are supported and advised by Westmeath County Enterprise Board and Craft Development Specialist, Aileen Duffy, supported by Westmeath Community Development Ltd.

In these times, everyone is cognisant of buying local and supporting Irish jobs and by buying in this project you are guaranteed of both.
