A Women in Business directory is also available, it contains information on over 500 businesses in Westmeath, across all sectors, that are operated / managed by women.
Many women in Business also use the online community and dedicated resource for women in business in Ireland called www.irishbusinesswomen.com. The development of this site has been facilitated primarily by the Mayo County Enterprise Board as part of its remit to promote Female Entrepreneurship. The belief is that in establishing the site women can learn from each other and support each other to mutual benefit.
The “Givers Gain” approach is used and as such the primary function of the site is one of facilitating the exchange of information and knowledge between members. Hopefully it will also, to some extent at least, allay the feelings of isolation that many female entrepreneurs experience, particularly at the start-up stage of their business.
