Programme Aim Day 1

Participants will develop and maintain a basic website for their business using a free service from Google and Blacknight. They will learn the basics of effective website design and image optimisation for the Internet. Subjects such as social media and how to be found by search engines will be covered.

This programme is delivered using an online free tool http://www.gettingbusinessonline.ie The .ie domain is free until the 9th of August. .eu, or .com is also free for the first year. All attendees should apply for their domain name using this website, in advance of the programme.

Who is this For?

This course is more suited for a non-technical audience with little or no experience of building a site for their business. Participants need to be comfortable using both computers and the Internet and will need to have access to broadband to maintain and develop their site afterwards.

Why Online?

This will cover topics such as why set up a website and what are the key elements of a website. Basic Website Jargon will be covered at this stage.

Website Workshop– Actual Development of your website

This will be the more interactive section of the training. Start by building a mock website taking time to go over the details of each and every step.

Programme Content

How to use the free tools to ensure each participant learns how to build and maintain a basic website (the site can be extended afterwards by them if they require).

They will also be given some basic instruction on:

Basic good practice in website design, including navigation, site structure etc
Adding Content, how to write such content
A brief overview of the use of keywords and using basic search engine optimisation to promote your website will be included. 
 

This training will be followed by a 2nd Day later in the year to go into website optimization etc. in more detail.
