Could You Be Your Own Boss?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be self-employed?  For many of us, it is something we might have considered from time to time but generally a good job offer or a chance to return to education took us down a different path.  Now in these changing times, setting up your own business is one of the main routes to securing an income for yourself.

Being self-employed may not be as risky or challenging as you might think, indeed you might be very suited to running your own business.   So what is involved in being your own Boss!  Where do you start?  Is your idea a good one?

Importantly, the seminar will also look at how to prepare yourself for the challenges you might face, how you can minimize the risk involved, what skills you might need, the personality types that are suited to running their own business and what supports are there to help you along the way. Most people start a business based on one of the following:

  • they have an idea or product that they really think other people will want
  • they feel they can do something better than it is currently being done
  • they see a new market opportunity
  • they love what they do and they feel they could make money from it

No matter what reason you start a business, there will be hard work involved and we all know from watching programmes like the Apprentice that you often need to be a ‘jack of all trades’ to get the work done.   But anyone who has run their own successful business will tell you that it can be hugely rewarding and is often the best thing they have ever done.

In the current market, the message is ‘Look before you Leap’ and this seminar will reduce the risks involved in you setting up your own business.  You will look at the issues you are likely to face and you will have a plan for how you can deal with them before you start.  You will also learn how to assess a business idea and decide whether or not to proceed.

The half-day seminar is open to all but will be of particular interest to those considering self-employment.  Please note you are not required to have a business idea to attend.  The good news is there is no fee but booking is essential.
