Westmeath County Enterprise Board offers a wide range of practical training courses that will help you to successfully run your business. The courses we deliver are aimed at those considering setting up their own business and those who are in business and wish to acquire knowledge and expertise in a particular area. Our courses take place in various venues across County Westmeath and are held during the day and in the evening time. The courses are designed to impart useful information in a practical way that will have immediate relevance to your business.We are conscious that if you are running your own business time is very precious so we make every effort to deliver our courses at times and durations that are convenient to you.
A number of our courses offer an element of on-site training to ensure that training is really relevant to your particular business. Such courses include Computerised Accounts, Safety Statements and Basic Food Hygiene.All courses are heavily subsidised by Westmeath County Enterprise Board which ensures that they are affordable to all and yet you are receiving the best business training possible.

Individual Training Courses
This scheme is currently open for applications.
Small businesses may be financially assisted on an individual basis to undertake certain business skills training courses subject to certain criteria.
Funding up to 50% of course fees (subject to a €1,000.00 limit per business per year) is available.
Criteria
- Individuals must have the approval of Westmeath County Enterprise Board before the course begins.
- The training course content details, course relevance, fee details and accreditation details must be presented to Westmeath County Enterprise Board with an application form, available to download here.
- Individuals must be in business or employed by a small business in County Westmeath.
- Businesses that employ 10 people or less are eligible only.
The following types of courses will be eligible :
- Accounts related courses
- Marketing related courses
- Business /Legal issue related courses
- Computerised accounts
- ISO and quality training
- Health and Safety Training (Safety Statements, Food Hygiene, HACCP)
- Photoshop and Web Design courses
The following types of courses are not eligible :
- Specialist software training particular to a business sector e.g. travel agents, engineering, manufacturing etc.)
- Basic computer skills training e.g. ECDL, MOUS etc.
- CAD
- Graphic Design
- MBA and third level degree and diploma courses.
Please note payment of grant is subject to :
- Completion of the course
- Production of a receipt in respect of payment of course fee
- Evidence of attendance at the course
